The federal government adjusted the Low‑Income Cut‑Off (LICO) by 3.9%, raising the minimum gross income sponsors must show. The exact requirement depends on family size — including the sponsor, spouse, dependent children, invited parents/grandparents, and any ongoing sponsorship undertakings.

For example:

• 5 family members → $64,336 required

• 6 family members → $72,560 required

• 7 family members → $80,784 required

A spouse or common‑law partner can co‑sign to combine incomes.

📊 How Family Size Is Counted

IRCC requires sponsors to include:

• Themselves and their spouse/common‑law partner (even if separated)

• All dependent children (regardless of custody arrangements)

• The super visa applicant(s)

• Previously approved super visa holders under their invitation

• Any individuals still under an active sponsorship undertaking

The Super Visa allows parents and grandparents to stay in Canada for up to 5 years at a time, with a 10‑year visitor status. Unlike the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP), which grants permanent residence but operates on a lottery system, the Super Visa is available year‑round.
