Introduction

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) has expanded its eligibility criteria for the Employer Job Offer: In-Demand Skills Stream. This stream allows foreign workers with job offers in specific in-demand occupations to apply for permanent residency in Ontario. As of July 4, 2024, the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training, and Skills Development has added occupations under 35 National Occupation Classification (NOC) codes to the list of jobs considered under this stream.

Eligible Occupations

The newly added occupations cover a wide range of fields, including logistics, maintenance, manufacturing, and food processing. Here are some of the eligible NOC codes:

  1. Shippers and Receivers (NOC 14400)

  2. Production logistics workers (NOC 14402)

  3. Dry cleaning, laundry, and related occupations (NOC 65320)

  4. Railway yard and track maintenance workers (NOC 74200)

  5. Automotive and heavy truck and equipment parts installers and servicers (NOC 74203)

  6. Utility maintenance workers (NOC 74204)

  7. Public works maintenance equipment operators and related workers (NOC 74205)

  8. Material handlers (NOC 75101)

  9. Other trades helpers and labourers (NOC 75119)

  10. And many more!

A candidate’s job offer must be located outside of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), except for NOC 75119 (Other trades helpers and labourers). These additions were made following consultations between the Ministry and provincial stakeholders in Fall 2023.

How to Apply

If you have a job offer in one of the eligible occupations, you can apply for provincial nomination through the Employer Job Offer: In-Demand Skills Stream. This stream provides an excellent opportunity for foreign workers to permanently live and work in Ontario. Make sure to check the official OINP website for the most up-to-date information on eligibility criteria and application procedures.

Conclusion

The expansion of eligible occupations under the In-Demand Skills Stream is a positive step towards attracting skilled workers to Ontario. If you’re considering immigration to Canada, explore the opportunities available through this stream and take advantage of the recent changes. Remember to consult with immigration professionals or legal advisors to ensure a smooth application process.
